Programs

"Education is the most powerful weapon which   you can use to change the world". Nelson Mandela
Infant Classroom

Our infant program is designed to be your child's home away from home.  The infant classroom provides many opportunities for stimulating and nurturing young infants’ minds, and allows each child an opportunity to rest and recharge.  Young infants determine their own schedules- there is no such thing as a “typical day” in an infant classroom!  As your baby matures, we guide each child towards a more structured and organized schedule to provide consistent feeding and rest times.

Waddler & Toddler Classrooms

The Waddler classroom is a transitional room between infants and toddlers to help our young learner to become acclimated to a more structured classroom environment. In the waddler room, our main focus is social-emotional learning. Children will learn techniques and language to guide their communication, problem solving, and self help skills.

As our waddlers move into the Toddler room,  gaining independence is a major focus.  Toddlers are discovering their world; learning best in a safe, loving place where they can explore. The curriculum and activities are built around toddlers' limitless curiosity and their natural desire to push boundaries. They will learn to count, discover writing, music, colors, and start building toward following simple instructions, and of course independence with the potty. Each day is packed with carefully designed activities structured around the  main development areas.

Pre Kindergarten Class

Pollywogs pre kindergarten curriculum sets goals specific to pre school age children and uses learning and developmental standards that are research-based, age-appropriate, and aligned with the OEC state standards. The curriculum builds on each child's interests and natural curiosity and gives children opportunities to direct their own learning; provides daily learning opportunities for language and reasoning, science, math, block play, dramatic play, art, and music; provides learning opportunities in a variety of settings, including whole-class activities, work in small groups, and individual interactions with the teacher; and provides integrated learning across children's cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development.

Schhol Age Before/After/Hybrid Learning Support

Pollywogs school age program is available for North Stonington residents for before and after school care as well as all school age children (regardless of residency)  who are in need of a safe, healthy learning environment for hybrid learning support. The school age room is a beautiful 3000 square foot open space with direct access to a state of the art kitchen. Hybrid learning will be the focus  with many breaks through out the day to re-charge and re-energize away from a computer screen. A full time teacher will ensure all school work is complete before pick up each day. We were very successful in the spring assisting many children in their on-line learning experience.
